Everything You Need To Know About Selling Your Car With Peach Cars

In this article, we’ll look at how you can easily sell your car- the Peach Way.

Selling a car may not be the most fun thing to do, but it’s one of the best ways to get rid of an old vehicle, make extra cash, or raise money for a new one. If you’re planning on selling your car, you’re probably wondering how to go about it and how much money you should get for it. The process can seem so daunting, especially if you’re not familiar with the procedures and factor in unscrupulous buyers too.

In this article, we’ll look at how you can easily sell your car the Peach Way.

First, let’s discuss some of the red flags to look out for when selling your car:

Red Flags To Look Out for When Selling Your Car

There are many reasons to sell your car. Which red flags should you watch out for in your potential buyers? Here are a few indicators of dodgy buyers:

1. Hasty buyers

Just like hasty sellers are a red flag, so are buyers. You may be looking to offload your car quickly for one reason or the other, but it leaves you vulnerable to scammers. You shouldn’t trust a buyer who’s overly keen to buy the car.

Indicators of a fraudulent car buyer include:

  • Offering to buy immediately without an inspection or a test drive
  • Offering a pricing way above your listing price
  • Paying above the agreed amount to your bank account or paying in cash
  • Suspicious money orders or cheques

2. Dangerous/time-wasting test drivers

This category of scam buyers might not rob you of your car, but they will absolutely waste your time, energy, and fuel. And sometimes leave your car needing repairs (and even harder to sell to a genuine buyer).

After enjoying an undeserved drive in your car, they’ll try to lowball you with an extremely low offer to get out of the deal. Among the excuses, they’ll cite the condition of the car or fuel consumption.

3. Criminal buyers

If a buyer wants you to meet them on their private property or somewhere excluded, that’s also a red flag. You might get robbed of your car and other valuables! Always meet in public and in the presence of a witness or a third party (maybe even a lawyer).

Some buyers also purchase the car and then file fraud claims against you (to try and scam money out of you or tarnish your reputation). You should always document every interaction you have with a buyer and write down any agreement you have in the contract or sales agreement.

To avoid the hassle of dealing with scam car buyers, you should sell your car through a trusted service like Peach Cars.

How to Sell Your Car- The Peach Way

Are you looking for a hassle-free way to sell your private car? Look no further than Peach Cars! Here’s a four-step process for selling your car with Peach:

Step 1: Reach Out to Us

The first step is to get in touch with us. You can do this through our website, email (contact@peachcars.co.ke), or phone (0715004488). Let us know that you’re interested in selling your car and provide us with some basic information about it, such as the make, model, and year. We’ll also ask you to send us some photos of your car, so we can get a better sense of its condition and appearance.

It’s at this stage that you get acquainted with the specifics of the Peach process and operational requirements too.

2. Pre-screening and Inspection

Once the initial conversation is done, we’ll want to know your car. It’s at this stage that we perform car checks so we can identify its unique selling points and any potential issues (not something you should worry about, we just strive to give our customers complete information on the car they’re buying from us).

Our car check is done in two main ways:

  • Pre-screening: This is basically an observation of the car’s physical condition, visible signs of wear and tear, and any evidence of previous accidents. It includes checking the condition of the engine and the gearbox. Pre-screening is done by Peach Car’s pre-screeners at our offices or designated locations and takes an average of 15 minutes to complete.
  • Inspection: The inspection is a much more thorough process compared to pre-screening and can take up to 90 minutes to complete, including a 30-minute test drive. It’s a 225-point check of the car, looking at all the major mechanical systems- engine, gearbox/powertrain, braking, steering, and suspension among others. We do the inspection using an off-the-shelf Onboard Diagnostics System (OBD) and Peach proprietary-built engine check device.

Our car check is scheduled and conducted at your convenience. You simply tell us the day and time you’ll be available. Once the process is complete, we will share the pre-screening/ inspection reports with you too, with recommendations on repairs that the car needs.

3. Documentation and Pricing

After the inspection, you’ll provide us with the required documentation such as a copy of the car logbook for verification. The information in the logbook should match those in the NTSA’s new Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS). The name on the logbook should also match those of the seller. If you’re not the owner of the logbook, then you’ll have to provide a stamped/ signed letter from the owner giving you express permission to sell the car.

If the car details aren’t accurate, you’ll need to do a “change of particulars” with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

We then discuss the pricing for the car. You’ll let us know the amount of money you’d like to collect on the car and we’ll advise on the ideal price range depending on factors such as the condition of the car. Once this is ironed out, we move to the final stage of selling your car with Peach.

4. Listing the Car

Depending on your needs, you can choose to either list the car on our website or leave it in our yard for walk-in customers. If you choose to only list on our website, we’ll market only it through our website.

For customers who choose to leave the car in our yard, we also market it offline (for example, showcasing it at exclusive events) in addition to digital marketing channels including social media platforms, online marketplaces, and paid ads such as Google Ads. They also get access to reports and insights such as the number of people making enquiries about the car online and offline. All the cars on our lot are insured by Peach and we also cater for the cost of fuel during test drives.

Private sellers’ cars on the lot have an average sale period of 27 days and a success rate of 60 percent. This means that six out of 10 car owners who choose to leave their car with us usually find a buyer within a month.

For both categories of sellers, we ensure we provide constant updates on enquiries and offers received for the cars.
